He is Emeritus Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. He has published 7 books, more than 250 papers in reputed journals, holds 21 U.S. Patents, and had been serving as an editorial board member of Proceedings of the IEEE. He served as faculty member of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1971-1976), research engineer in GE Global Research Center (1976-1987), and Endowed Chair Professor of the University of Tennessee. He is a recipient of 7 IEEE awards, Honorary D.Sc. from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, India.

Nicole Herbots, i.r., PhD UCL, doctor ingenieur, joined ASU's Department of Physics & Astronomy in 1991 ,after 4 years as a faculty at MIT (1987-1991), and 3.5 years as research scientist in the Solid State Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1984-1987). She is presently a professor emeritus in Physics at ASU. She is an inventor who holds multiple patents in semiconductors, medical electronics, molecular inorganic and organic nanophases and nanoscale technology. She is also a science educator who won a teaching award from engineering students for her development of interactive in-class and desktop experiments to teach fundamental and quantum physics concepts to undergraduates, and for her use of technology and whiteboards. She was an IBM Professor of Electronic Materials and a Carl Soderberg professor at MIT and a researcher in the Particle-Solid Interactions in the Solid State Division at Oak Ridge National Lab.

Theory and numerical simulation of the dynamics of multi-dimensional nonlinear waves, solitons and vortex structures in plasmas and other dispersive media

Francisco Márquez was born in Valencia (Spain) and received his Bachelor and Master´s degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry at the Universidad de Valencia in 1988 and 1989, respectively, and his Doctor´s degree in Chemistry at the Universidad de Valencia in 1992. He spent two years from 1990 as Director of the laboratories of Futura Medical S.A. and one year as researcher at the Varian Iberica Laboratories. From 1994 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. In 2001 he was an Associate Professor at the Universidad Jaime I and subsequently he moved to the School of Natural Sciences and Technology at the University of Turabo in Puerto Rico, USA, where is now Full Professor of chemistry. He has been Visiting Professor in several universities, most recently at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research interests are mainly directed toward photophysics of organic compounds in confined spaces, hydrogen technology, photodegradation processes, synthesis and applications of nanotubes and nanowires, and most recently the development of new electrodes for Li-ion batteries. He is a coauthor of over 100 scientific publications and 11 patents, and Editor-in-Chief of Soft Nanoscience Letters, Advances in Energy Research and International Research Journal of Pure and Applied Chemistry.

Sergey Kravchenko was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1960. He was graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1982 and got his Ph.D. from Institute of Solid State Physics in Chernogolovka, Russia, in 1998. He is mostly famous for his discovery of the metallic state and metal-insulator transition in two dimensions which was listed among the 50 main discoveries in Mesoscopic Physics of the last century on American Physical Society timeline in 1999 (“A Century of Mesoscopic Physics: 1899 - 1999”). At present, he is a Professor of Physics at Northeastern University, Boston, USA.

Matti Pitkanen is Finnish theoretical physicist. Since 1978 he has worked with Topological Geometrodynamics (TGD), which is a proposal for a unification of fundamental interactions generalizing string models. After the thesis on the subject (1982) he has continued as a free researcher to develop mathematical theory around the basic physical ideas represented in thesis. During nineties p-adic physics, quantum theory of consciousness, and quantum biology became parts of TGD program. Around 2005 the hypothesis about hierarchy of Planck constants led to a further generalization of the basic mathematical framework of TGD.

From 1987, and from 1990 as a Senior Scientist II, he worked in the field of open quantum physics. In 1991 he discovered that the penetrability of a potential barrier can be increased by coupling to a dissipative system, and described the decay spectrum of some cold fission modes. As a Senior Scientist I, from 1997 he developed a microscopic theory of open quantum systems, and discovered a physical principle for the heat conversion into usable energy. Vladimir V. Rumyantsev is Head of Department of Theory of Complex Systems Dynamic Properties at A.A. Galkin Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering (DonIPE). He is Professor of Theoretical Physics and Nanotechnology Department at Donetsk National University (DonNU). He received PhD in Theoretical Physics (1988) from DonNU and Dr. Sci. in Condensed Matter Physics (2007) from DonIPE. Prof. Rumyantsev has authored/co-authored 4 books, 2 chapters in books and more than 230 scientific publications. He is a member of the American Physical Society as well as Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics (MIFP, Italy) and Editor-in-Chiff of Journal of Photonic Materials and Technology (Science PG, USA).

Current research interests include various aspects of solid state physics, crystallooptics, photonics; more particularly - theoretical study of the effects of disorder in quasi-two-dimensional nanofilms and layered structures caused by the propagation of electromagnetic and acoustic excitations, light-matter coupling in composite nanostructures.

Prof. Dr. Changzhi Gu, received a Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics from Jilin University in 1997. In 2001, he was selected into the "100 Talents Program" of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and moved to the Institute of Physics (IOP), CAS. He has been a Professor in Condensed Matter Physics at IOP since 2001. Now, he is the deputy director of IOP. His research focused on the synthesis and property of wide-band gap thin films, artificial structures and devices in nanometer scale. Patrick Siarry was born in France in 1952. He received the PhD degree from the University Paris 6, in 1986 and the Doctorate of Sciences (Habilitation) from the University Paris 11, in 1994. He was first involved in the development of analog and digital models of nuclear power plants at Electricite de France (E.D.F.). Since 1995 he is a professor in automatics and informatics. His main research interests are computer-aided design of electronic circuits, and the applications of new stochastic global optimization heuristics to various engineering fields. He is also interested in the fitting of process models to experimental data, the learning of fuzzy rule bases, and of neural networks.

Professor Tomozawa's studies include theoretical and experimental work on the solar neutrino problem (the depletion of solar neutrino flux). His work on the enhancement of neutrino cross-sections by magnetoplasma properties attempts to explain observed anticorrelation of the solar neutrino flux and solar activity in recent experiments. Professor Tomozawa is also exploring the possibility of an efficient neutrino detector and a control of radioactivity.More recently, Professor Tomozawa found that the Schwarzschild metric does not fit the data of time delay experiment in the field of general relativity. He introduced a physical metric which fits the data. It was constructed with the constraint that the speed of light on the spherical direction is unchanged from that in vacuum. This modification changes the way we understand the nature of gravity drastically. In particular, it explains the dark energy.

Anwar serves as an Editor of IEEE Journal of Electron Devices and has served as an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices (2001 – 2010). He serves as the conference chair of the international conference on Terahertz Physics, Devices and Systems: Advanced Applications in Industry and Defense of the SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012). Dr. Mary Mehrnoosh Eshaghian-Wilner has over 26 years of research experience in various areas within the field of Computer Engineering. Additionally, she has worked in the area of patent law for several years. She has published numerous scientific papers, including two books, and has handled the prosecution and infringement analysis of many complex U.S. and international patents. Dr. Eshaghian-Wilner currently is a Professor of Engineering Practice at the Electrical Engineering-Systems Department at the University of Southern California (USC), and since 2004 has been an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to joining UCLA, she was a tenured full Professor and Department Head at the Computer Engineering Department of Rochester Institute of Technology. Professor Eshaghian-Wilner received her B.S. degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering (1985), M.S. degree in Computer Engineering (1985), her Engineers degree in Electrical Engineering (1988), and her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering (1988), all from USC. She holds a J.D. degree from the Northwestern California School of Law, and has graduated Cum Laude with an LL.M. degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She is admitted to the State Bar of California and the Washington, D.C. Bar, and is registered as a Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Professor Eshaghian-Wilner is best known for her pioneering contributions to three areas of Optical Computing, Heterogeneous Computing, and Nanoscale Computing. In the area of Optical Computing, she produced one of the first theses that dealt with the computational aspects of optical interconnects for VLSI chips. The OMC model was developed by Professor Eshaghian-Wilner as part of her Ph.D. work, and since then, many architectures and algorithms have been designed by on that model. In the area of Heterogeneous Computing, Professor Eshaghian-Wilner is the editor of the field's first book, "Heterogeneous Computing," and she is the co- founder of the IEEE Heterogeneous Computing Workshop. The NSF-funded Cluster-M model was developed by her team, as one of the first paradigms for executing heterogeneous applications to systems. The Cluster-M mapping is still the fastest known algorithm for mapping arbitrary task graphs onto arbitrary system graphs. In the area of Nanoscale Computing, one of Professor Eshaghian-Wilner's most notable results involves the design of highly interconnected multiprocessor chips with spin waves that possess an unprecedented degree of interconnectivity that was not possible previously with electrical VLSI interconnects. These designs have a great potential to be used as part of miniature implantable devices for biomedical applications and nanomedicine. Professor Eshaghian-Wilner serves on the editorial board of Journal of Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology, and is a founding series co-editor of "Nature Inspired Computing" for Wiley & Sons. She has edited the first book of this series, "Bio-inspired and Nanoscale Integrated Computing". Professor Eshaghian-Wilner's most recent area of research is in Technology Law. She is investigating how various forms of emerging technologies may be impacted by, and come into conflict with, U.S. and international policies and laws. For example, Pervasive (heterogeneous/ubiquitous) computing and nanotechnology are two emerging technologies in which she an extensive scientific background. While these two technologies are entirely different from each other, they both are seemingly invisible, one in terms of interconnectivity and the other in terms of size. They can therefore introduce continuously magnifying challenges to policies and laws that protect rights and property. Professor Eshaghian-Wilner has founded and/or chaired numerous IEEE conferences and organizations, including the IEEE Women in Engineering affinity division of the Coastal Los Angeles Section. She is the recipient of several prestigious grants and honors including a teaching award for being voted as the best teacher by her engineering students.

Dr. Reza Shadnam is a science manager at R&D incentive group, a technology, development, and research consulting practice within the KPMG. He is in contact with technical side of tens of companies in his current position. His research areas are micro/nano surface science/engineering and mechanical and mathematical dynamics and stability. He has completed a Ph.D. in the Surface Engineering and Instrumentation Laboratory at the National Institute of Nanotechnology. Dr. Dongyang Li is a Professor at University of Alberta. His research interests include nano-materials and surfaces, tribo-physics, surface science/engineering, biomedical engineering, tribological phenomena, and computational materials science. Dr. Li obtained a B.Sc. in Solid Mechanics from University of Science and Technology China (1982), a M.Sc. in Solid-State Physics from Zhongshan University (1985), a PhD in Materials Physics from University of Science and Technology Beijing (1990) and a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University (1995). Koji Sugioka received his B. S., Ms. Eng., and Dr. Eng. Degrees in electronics from Waseda University (Japan) in 1984, 1986, 1993, respectively. He Joined RIKEN in 1986 and is currently a Unit Leader of RIKEN-SIOM Joint Research Unit at RIKEN Center for Advanced Photonics. He is also a guest professor at Tokyo University of Science since 2006 and Tokyo Denki University since 2004. Dr. Sugioka has achieved numerous significant research and development results, and is worldwide recognized as one of the most distinguished and influential scientists in the area of laser micro and nano processing. He has made important contribution to both fundamental researches on laser-matter interactions and diverse applications including practical use in the said area. He is internationally renowned for his works on laser doping, laser etching, laser surface modification, laser-induced selective metallization, microfabrication of transparent materials, VUV laser processing, laser surface nanostructuring, and 3D micro and nano fabrication. In particular, he is known as a leading scientist in the ultrafast laser processing technology. His current research interests include ultrafast laser processing for microfluidic, optofluidic, microelectronic and optoelectronic applications. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Laser Institute of America (LIA) and Japanese Laser Processing Society (JLPS), and an SPIE Fellow. He is an author and co-author of 14 invited papers in international journals with referee system and over 160 peer-reviewed journal articles. Tsuyoshi Takami has completed his PhD in 2007 from Nagoya University and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Texas at Austin. He was the editor of Nanothermoelectrics. He has published more than 35 papers in reputed journals such as PRL, PRB, and APL and a comprehensive review book titled “Functional Cobalt Oxides: Fundamentals, Properties, and Applications” in the CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group.

Dr. Takami’s research interests focus on design and synthesis of strongly correlated electron systems including superconductors, spintronic/orbitronic materials, and thermoelectric materials. He has emphasized the relationship between electronic degrees of freedom, i.e., charge, spin, and orbital, and physical properties of transition-metal oxides. Over the past several years, he has clarified the mechanism of a large thermoelectric power and an appearance of superconductivity observed for cobalt and copper oxides, respectively. These subjects have mainly investigated by measuring the transport properties in conjunction with microscopic techniques such as NMR and μ+SR. His strategy would bring about an important clue to explore functional materials.

Received his Ph. D from McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada in 2008. After graduation he worked as post doctoral fellow in the same group. In October 2009, he joined the photonic group and the institute of optical sciences at the University of Toronto where he works as a research fellow. In September 2011, he was appointed as an assistant professor at the Department of Physics, the American university in Cairo (AUC). His research interests include design optimization and fabrication of active and passive nanophotonic and plasmonic devices and systems, silicon photonics, optical interconnects, integrated on- chip optical systems, lab on chip, nano-antenna, metamaterials, and solar cells. The main applications include biomedical integrated systems, energy harvesting, and telecommunications. He authored more than 120 technical papers in highly ranked journals and conferences. He also hold 2 patents, a book, and book chapter in these areas. Dr. Swillam is a guest editor in J. of optical and quantum electronics. He is also member of the editorial board of many physics and photonics journal including journal of review of applied physics, J. of photonics and optoelectronics, J. of Bio-Inspired Nanotechnology, NUSOD, ICMAP and SOPO. He is also a senior member of the IEEE Photonic society since 2010. He is the founder and the advisor of the optical society of America and SPIE chapters at the AUC and the vice president of the Egyptian Unit. Dr. Swillam received various awards and fellowships including the State Award for advanced technology in 2013 and Misr -Elkhair best publication award in science in 2012, Ontario ministry of research (MRI) fellowship in 2011, NSERC post doctoral fellowship 2009, and the Dean’s graduate student award of knowledge translation and innovation from McMaster University in 2009. He is also the recipient of best student paper award from IEEE/LEOS Ottawa section for Photonics North 2007 and from ACES 2009. Swillam is a recipient of the Nortel Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (OGSST), as well as the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), in May 2007 and April 2008, respectively. He is also the recipient of best student paper award from IEEE/LEOS Ottawa section for Photonics North 2007 and from ACES 2009 and the Dean’s Graduate Student Award of Knowledge Translation and Innovation from McMaster University in 2009. He recently won the competition for Ontario Ministry of Research (MRI) fellowship round five for 2011.He is also a senior member of the IEEE Photonic Society.

Ajay Kumar Mishra is a full Professor at the Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability Research Unit at College of Science, Engineering & Technology, University of South Africa, Florida Science Campus, South Africa. He received his B. Sc, M. Sc., degrees in 1997 and 2001 respectively from Purvanchal University Jaunpur, India and M. Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in 2003 and 2007, respectively, from The University of Delhi, India. From March 2006 to September 2009, he was postdoctoral fellows at various South African Institutes/Universities. In addition, he was appointed as “Senior Lecturer” in October 2009 at the Department of Applied Chemistry, University of Johannesburg, South Africa where he was promoted to “Associate Professor” in November 2011 until December 2014. Recently, he was appointed by University of South Africa as “Full Professor” since January 2015. He is also working as “Adjunct Professor” at Jiangsu University, China. His research interests include synthesis of multifunctional nano-materials, nano-composites, biopolymer and/or petrochemical based biodegradable polymers, polymers based materials/composites, smart materials, CNT and graphene based composite materials and water research. He has authored over 100 scientific papers. He has hosted several visiting researchers/scientists/postdocs in his group. He has also developed a number of collaborations worldwide. He has delivered a number of including Plenary/Keynote/Invited Lectures. For his outstanding research profile, he was awarded a number of international awards. Prof. Mishra also served as Associate Editor as well as member of the editorial board of many peer-reviewed international journals. He has edited several books by the renowned publishers and also reviewer of many international journals. He is serving as member advisory board of a number of international scientific societies, conferences and workshops.

My research interest is in four broad areas, namely: Nanoscience/Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Polymers, Composite/Nanocomposites and Water Research. I am actively involved in the area of nanotechnology towards the development of smart materials for various applications in the field of materials science and water research. I train and supervise Honours, Masters and Doctoral students as well as postdoctoral fellows under the following research themes: 1.Synthesis of multifunctional nano-materials, nano-composites, biopolymer and/or petrochemical based biodegradable polymers and polymers based materials/composites for various applications, special attention to drug delivery. 2.Nanotechnology towards to the development of smart materials for various applications in the field of Materials Science/Polymer Science/Water Research/Bio-inorganic Chemistry. 3.Organometallic Chemistry/Bio-inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis in the area of Inorganic Chemistry. 4.Carbon nanotube and graphene based composite materials for technological applications.

Frank Avignone has completed his PhD in physics in the year of 1965 from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is the Carolina Endowed Professor of Physics and Astronomy at University of South Carolina. He joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina in 1965; and served as chairman of the Department of Physics and Astronomy until 1998 when he retired and was appointed as the first Carolina Endowed Professor at USC. Frank T. Avignone III is the recipient of the 2008 CNTA Distinguished Scientist Award.

Research interests include a variety of topics in Particle Astrophysics and Cold Dark Matter.

William van Wijngaarden has completed his in 1986 from Princeton University. After spending a year as a research associate at Yale University, he joined the faculty at York University in 1988. Currently, he is working as a Professor of physics at York University. He is the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the University of Windsor's Board of Governor's Medal, the 1967 NSERC Graduate Scholarship, the Joseph Henry Scholarship from Princeton University and a considerable number of sizable research grants. Recently, he was chosen to be a member of the NSERC General Physics Grant Selection Committee.

Research interests include a variety of topics in pure and applied physics, such as laser isotope separation, laser cooling, atom trapping, and environmental monitoring of pollutants, electromagnetically induced transparency for use in optical switching.

Eugene Oks received his Ph.D. from the Moscow Institute of Science and Technology, and later the highest degree of Doctor of Sciences from the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Worked in Moscow (USSR) as the head of a research unit (Center for Studying Surfaces and Vacuum), then – at Ruhr-University-Bochum (Germany) as the invited professor, and for the last 26 years – at the Physics Department of the Auburn University (USA) in the position of Professor. His research areas: atomic/molecular physics, plasma physics, laser physics, nonlinear dynamics, astrophysics. Founded/co-founded and developed new research fields: intra-Stark spectroscopy, microwave “lasing” without inversion, quantum chaos. Developed a large number of advanced spectroscopic methods for diagnosing various laboratory and astrophysical plasmas. Published over 300 papers and 4 books. He is the Chief Editor of the journal “International Review of Atomic and Molecular Physics”, a member of the Editorial Boards of the two other journals (International Journal of Spectroscopy and Open Journal of Microphysics), a member of the International Program Committees of the two conferences (Spectral Line Shapes and Zvenigorod Conference on Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion).

Nicholaos Tsoupas has completed his Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics in the year 1975 from Ohio State University (Columbus). He is the Adjunct Professor at Stony Brook University (USA). He has Over 200 publications in journals and many contributions to scientific conferences. He also works for Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York. He joined as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Massachusetts Institute of Technology later he joined Air Force Technology Center, and Nuclear Research Center “Democritus”, in Greece and continued to be successful in his career.

Research interests include a variety of topics in Accelerator Physics, Computational Physics and Nuclear Physics.

Natig Atakishiyev has completed his first doctoral degree (Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences) in 1971 from Institute for High Energy Physics, Protvino, Russia, and second one (Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences) in 1987 from N.N. Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kiev, Ukraine. He is researcher (Investigador Titular C) in mathematical physics from Instituto de Matemáticas, Unidad Cuernavaca, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

Elena V. Orlenko has completed her PhD at the age of 28 years from St.Petersburg State Polytechnic University. She is full professor for the Theoretical Physics Department and director of a research team focusing on spin ordering in the system of identical particles with “high” spins and scattering processes of atomic particles with electron exchange at the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

Norimichi Kojima has completed his PhD at the age of 28 years from Kyoto University, Japan. In 1994, he was appointed as a full professor, and the vice-president between 2009 and 2011, the University of Tokyo, and became the emeritus professor in 2015, After retiring from the University of Tokyo, he moved to Toyota Physical and Chemical Research Institute, as a fellow. His current interests include the electronic and structural properties of nanoparticles by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy.

Professor Schuessler attended Rupert Charles University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he earned a Ph.D. degree in physics. After two years as assistant professor at the Technological University of Berlin, he was research assistant professor and research associate professor at the University of Washington. He joined Texas A&M as associate professor in 1969 and became a professor in 1981. For short intervals, he has been visiting associate professor at the University of Washington and visiting scientist at the University of Mainz and GSI in Germany. Professor Schuessler has been collaborating on research done at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, and currently is performing experiments at Texas A&M, on-line at the UNISOR mass separator at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics at Garching, Germany. Ottorino Veneri graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples 'Federico II' in 1996. By the same University in March 2000 he has been awarded his PhD in Electrical Engineering. From 1999 to 2001 he had a research grant provided by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Naples 'Federico II'. Since 2002 he works as a researcher with the Istituto Motori of the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy in Naples. In recent years he has also become Full Professor at the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO. His main fields of interest are the electric drives for transportation systems, electric energy converters, electric energy storage systems, power sources with hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid propulsion architecture. Teresa Monteiro is an Associated Professor with Habilitation at the Physics Department of University of Aveiro and a Full Member of i3N - Institute for Nanostructures, Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication.In this research field she has published more than 200 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals of the speciality and participated in dozens of international conferences, both as oral and poster contributions. She supervised and co-supervised 22 post-graduate and 18 graduate students’ dissertations. She has also participated in several jury Academic Degrees (in Portugal and abroad). In the last 20 years she participated in more than 20 national and international research projects.

Arkady Major received his BSc in engineering physics from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in 1997 and MSc in laser physics and nonlinear optics from Vilnius University in 1999, both in Lithuania. In 2002 he got the PhD in laser physics from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. After this Dr. Major was as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto (2002 – 2007) where he worked on various nonlinear optical spectroscopy and laser microscopy projects. Dr. Major joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 2007 where he is now an Associate Professor.

Major’s current research interests are in the development of diode-pumped ultrashort pulse solid-state lasers for biomedical applications. In particular, his efforts are focused on development of advanced laser sources and optical laser technologies for multiphoton imaging and spectroscopy of biological and other systems.

Xiushan Zhu received his Ph.D degree in optical sciences from the University of Arizona in 2008, specializing in fiber lasers and fiber devices. After three years working as a postdoctoral research associate, he became an Assistant Research Professor at the College of Optical Sciences of the University of Arizona in 2011 where he is currently an Associate Research Professor. His research interests include fiber optics, fiber lasers and amplifiers, solid-state lasers, and nonlinear optics. He is also a Senior Optical Scientist at NP Photonics focusing on the research and development of advanced glass and fiber lasers. He has published over 35 articles in refereed journals and has been awarded two patents. He is a member of the OSA and SPIE. He is serving as an Assistant Editor for Journal of Optical Society of America B

Xiushan Zhu research interests include fiber optics, fiber lasers and amplifiers, solid-state lasers, and nonlinear optics.
